Canada’s Longest Running Cooking School

Born from a passion to bring cooking and international ingredients to Vancouver, Caren McSherry started Caren’s Cooking School in 1978. The classes were a culinary success, and over the years have hosted world-renown culinary stars as guest instructors, such as Jacques Pepin, Guiliano Bugialli, Anna Olson, Curtis Stone, and Lynn Crawford.

We are able to accommodate a variety of uses for our space, whether it be a private demonstration or hands-on cooking classes, or as a venue rental to meet your corporate needs, birthday parties, team building, tastings, product launches, and more!

PRIVATE DEMONSTRATION COOKING CLASSES

These classes are 3-hours in duration and are designed with you in mind – you can personalize your menu to suit your tastes. Choose four courses, including an appetizer, soup, or salad, a main course, and dessert. We can customize a menu specifically for you, and our chef will guide you through the process and assist with menu design.

PRIVATE HANDS-ON COOKING CLASSES

These classes are a perfect way to entertain staff, colleagues, or clients, all while having a great time. Our chefs will guide you through a minimum 3-course meal, and let you take the reins to tackle it hands-on under their guidance. Choose from an array of hands-on classes, including pasta, sausage, or pastry making, cookie or cake decorating, butchery skills, and more! Have something different in mind? We can work with you to make it a reality. We supply the chef, knives, aprons, and recipes… just bring your group!

SPECIAL EVENTS, VENUE RENTAL

Searching for a fabulous event space like no other? Look no further! Whether it’s a corporate site meeting, management planning session, breakfast meeting, presentation – all of this can be arranged. The space is equipped with multiple flat screen TVs, seating room for 30 attendees, dishes, flatware, coffee services, and filtered water.

ADDITIONAL SERVICES

- Gourmet Warehouse apron can be purchased to take home after your class.
- Custom gift bags can be created tailored to your tastes and specification.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if someone has an allergy?
We cannot guarantee that foods will be allergen-free, tasting is your choice and at your own risk.

What if we are bringing less people than capacity?
Our pricing is on a buy-out basis, therefore the price will remain the same.

Do we need a special event license?
We acquire a special event license on your behalf, and this will be added to your final invoice at the end of the event.

Do we need to pay a deposit?
Yes, we require a 50% deposit paid in full prior to securing the reservation.

Can you provide catering?
We are more than happy to provide an introduction to catering services that can be brought in for your event although we do not provide catering on premise.

Can I bring my own wine?
You are more than welcome to bring your wine of choice. However, the event rate will not be discounted if you choose to do so.

Is there a gratuity added?
We add an 15% gratuity charge to the total bill.

Do you have speakers?
Yes, we have wireless speakers that you can connect via Bluetooth.

What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made 30 days or more before the event booking are exempt from cancellation fees. Cancellations or rescheduling made between 14-29 days forfeit 50% of the fee. Cancellations or reschedulings made 1-13 days prior to the event forfeit the full fee.
