Prosciutto Barbie
by Caren McSherry
I attend a great number of international food shows every year in order to ensure The Gourmet Warehouse remains on top of trends and continues to be gourmet reverent. I was in Milan a few years ago, immersed in a pavilion where prosciutto is the entire focus. Hundreds of hams hang in order of age, with the most valuable being aged the longest. Here is an appy that is all about Prosciutto.
Ingredients:
- 200 grams Italian Prosciutto sliced thin
- 200 grams of Parmesan, in a piece not grated, chunked
- Tools: 1 Barbie doll, and tin foil
Method:
1. Stand Barbie without her clothes on a board that can secure her solidly. Wrap the tin foil around her like you are dressing her in a flared skirt.
2. Starting at the waist, and make a flared skirt around her with the tin foil, then take the prosciutto slices and starting at the top, begin to wrap the slices around the tin foil skirt working your way down to the bottom ensuring that each slice overlaps the previous one so that it ends up looking like a skirt.
3. Wrap a half slice around her bust so that the dress is complete.
4. Chunk up the cheese and place it around the bottom of her skirt. Give the cheese a drizzle of good balsamic and place a offering of crackers and bread to go with Barbie.
