BAGEL MAKING 101: RISE N' ROLE | 11 AM - 2 PM

Join us for a hands-on class where you'll learn the authentic techniques behind WA-BAGEL's signature filled bagels from scratch. In this session, you will personally craft three of our popular Garlic Butter & Cream Cheese Bagels. You will also learn advanced filling techniques through professional demonstrations of our Apple Cinnamon and Kinako Chocolate bagels.
During the baking time, enjoy a comforting lunch featuring a Japanese-style cream stew, perfectly paired with your freshly baked bagels. Whether you are a beginner or looking to master Japanese baking skills, this class provides the practical expertise and unique flavors that define WA-BAGEL.

MENU

• Filled Bagel Crafting:
Mix, shape, fill, and bake Garlic Butter & Cream Cheese Bagels from scratch.
• Filled Bagel Demonstrations:
Learn the secrets to preparing and filling Apple Cinnamon and Kinako Chocolate bagels.
• Japanese Cream Stew:
A comforting Japanese-style stew made with poultry and dairy, served with koji sourdough plain bagels.
(vegan option available upon request, please indicate when registering)
• Take-Home Bagels:
Take home your three handmade Garlic Butter & Cream Cheese Bagels, plus a gift of Apple Cinnamon and Kinako Chocolate bagels from WA-BAGEL.

- Attendees must be at least 19 years of age to attend/participate in these classes.
- Allergies: we cannot guarantee that foods will be allergen-free, but you are welcome to come to class to learn, get recipes and tips. Tasting is of course your choice and is at your own risk.


REGISTRATION CANCELLATIONS OR NO SHOWS

- Up to 14 Days – before the scheduled class, we will credit 100% of the class price (store credit back onto a gift card) minus a processing fee per person registered: $25 for demo class, $30 for hands-on, and $50 for kids hands-on cooking camp.
- Less Than 14 Days – As we need to plan our menus and purchase food based on the number of participants attending, no refunds or credits can be issued for cancellations less than 14 days before a class. You may choose to send someone in your place.

Yukiko Iikura

Yukiko’s passion for bread began in Tokyo, where she grew up surrounded by the warm aroma of her mother’s homemade loaves. From an early age, she developed a love for the texture and flavour of good bread—especially the satisfying chew and perfect balance of a well-made bagel.

She went on to run a renowned bagel shop in Tokyo for over 15 years, becoming a respected voice in Japan’s bagel scene and publishing a book on her craft.

Now based in Vancouver, Yukiko is the Head Baker at WA-BAGEL. She combines Canadian ingredients with Japanese techniques to create bagels that are celebrated for their unique texture and deep flavor. Through her popular classes and creative collaborations, she shares her knowledge, passion, and techniques with bread lovers of all levels.
