CHOCOLATE CHALLENGE 2020
Dear Sponsors and Benefactors,
It is with a very heavy heart that I am compelled to cancel our popular charity event this year, due to the overwhelming evidence of growth regarding the dreaded global coronavirus. Given the unpredictable restrictions that we have been witnessing both locally and globally it would be a disaster to see the participants hard work and generosity fall to poor attendance surrounding this situation. I am truly saddened, as our collective work contributes to such great programs that do so much for children facing food shortages in our city.
My apologies go out to the Firefighters Snacks for Kids, Project Chef, and the Strathcona Backpack Program that count on your donation every year to continue the good work.
The chefs and I will be back next year, enthusiastic and energized to produce an even better “Chocolate Challenge”.
Please know that this has been an extremely hard decision to make but I am confident it is the right thing to do.
Caren McSherry
Founder and President
Our annual charity event, The Chocolate Challenge, was born in 2012 from the sadness of watching children on the downtown east side go to school hungry. Our mission was to create a neighbourhood event that would be casual, friendly, and embrace the vision of raising money through the sweetness of chocolate. We engage the talent and generosity of the top chocolatiers in the city to prepare 300 crafted chocolates on which the guests enjoy. We make a competition out of it and guests rub elbows with
the celebrity chefs.
We sponsor the event with Vintage Corks and all proceeds go to VANCOUVER FIREFIGHTERS SNACKS FOR KIDS, PROJECT CHEF and STRATHCONA BACKPACK PROGRAM.
These charities focus entirely on children who are hungry. This is our primary focus, but do our share to other charitable causes in the city.
